Powerful Earthquake Hit Turkey, At least 2,300 dead in Turkey and Syria


An earthquake measuring 7.8 magnitude rocked southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria early Monday, killing more than 2,300 people.

A powerful aftershock followed the pre-dawn quake in Kahramanmaras province in Turkey's southeastern region. In both directions of the border, thousands of buildings were razed to the ground. The death toll was expected to rise as rescue workers searched for survivors in the massive piles of rubble.Both Turkey and Syria have declared a state of emergency.
